GREENSBORO, N.C. --- The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team secured multiple wins on Saturday and Sunday at the UNCG Invite to close out the first weekend of competition during the 2021 fall season in Greensboro, N.C.
On Saturday against UNC Asheville,
Kerim Hyatt earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Leo Bierbaum in the No. 2 slot before UTC notched an additional pair of victories which included a 6-1, 6-3 decision from
Jordan McClure over Bruno Serra.
During a Saturday tilt against Campbell,
Tomas Rodriguez picked up a tough earned 6-4, 3-6, (10-8) win over Damien Nezar in the top pairing. Nezar is a freshman who was ranked as high as No. 2 in the country as a South African native.
In doubles action on Saturday, the duo of
Tomas Rodriguez and
Peyton Gatti secured a 6-2 win over UNCA's Bruno Serro and Leo Bierbaum before
Kerim Hyatt and
Simon Labbe added to the victory column with a 7-5 decision over Harry Thursfield and Quinn Fender.
Hyatt continued his winning ways on Sunday in singles play with a 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (5) comeback victory over UNCG's Alexander Zuckerman. Mudre closed out the event's action with a 6-1, 6-1 win over the Spartans' David Flisberg.
Chattanooga returns to action September 23-27 in Knoxville, Tenn., to compete individually in the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals, hosted by the University of Tennessee.
