2) Details
The Mocs head north on I-75 to square off with SEC leader Kentucky. Chattanooga is 1-1 coming off a 20-0 defensive demolition at North Alabama, while Wildcats are 2-0, 1-0 in their league after last week's 35-28 triumph over Missouri. Both teams feature a fearsome run game and stout offensive and defensive fronts.

3) History
Chattanooga has 126 all-time games against 10 different SEC programs. However, this is the first against UK. There are four wins over the century-plus of football against the current membership with two over Tennessee and one each against Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. The last? 14-6, Nov. 8, 1958 at Tennessee which you can learn more about here.

with Kameron Brown (15) & Jay Person (30).
4) Pick Parade
The Mocs are sixth nationally in the FCS in interceptions with four. Villanova and New Hampshire lead with six. All four come from safeties Brandon Dowdell (3) and Jerrell Lawson (1). Dowdell is tied for second nationally behind Villanova's Christian Benford with four.

Dowdell needs one more for 10 in his career which would make him the 13th in school history to reach double digits. His ninth last weekend matched former head coach Russ Huesman (1978-81), current secondary coach Jordan Tippit (2008-11) and Quintez Smith (2003, '05-06), who was smart enough to stay out of coaching, in 13th on the all-time list.

5) Three Notes to Notice
  • There are four Mocs who started their careers at SEC schools and nine at "Power 5"+ level:
Mississippi State (2): Blake Mitchell, Harrison Moon
South Carolina (2): Zay Brown, KeShawn Toney
Louisville (2): Kam Jones, Telly Plummer
    Purdue (1): Giovanni Reviere
Cincinnati (2): Tyrin Summers, Colin Truett
  • Six or more tackles for loss in eight of the last nine for the defense. That's a total of 62, or nearly eight per game, with a high of 10 the last time the fearsome formation played in Kentucky (Oct. 24, 2020 at Western Ky.).
  • Sophomore Ailym Ford is chasing the fastest trip to 1,500 yards in school history by a high school signee. He set the school freshman rushing record in 2019 with 1,081 yards in 10 contests. He has 1,347 through 13 to date. The fastest to 1,500 in school history?
