STATS/NOTES | SCORING | ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team is back on tee, albeit a bit later than planned after rain cancelled this week's Scenic City Collegiate at the Honors Course. This week's gig is at the J.T. Poston Invitational where the Mocs stride into as defending champs.

Chattanooga won the 2020 edition by 16 shots over host Western Carolina. The squad shot a robust 17-under 835 at Cateechee Golf Club in Lake Hartwell, Ga. A.J. Lintunen '21 and Oliver Simonsen '21 finished 1-2 with Matt Smith (5th) and Connor Nolan (T6) also finishing in top 10.

COVID moved the venue south into Georgia in 2020, but now it returns to its home, the Country Club of Sapphire Valley. CCSV is a picturesque gem tucked away in the western Carolina mountains in Cashiers, N.C. It presents challenges while offering scoring opportunities to the industrious members of the field play at par of 71 at just over 7,000 yards.

The Mocs bring one a mix of veteran and youthfulness to the party. Freshman Braedon Wear joins sophomores Paul Conroy and Gabe Hunter who are in their second semester with the program. Senior Connor Nolan and junior Matt Smith are back looking to build on top 10 finishes a year ago.

The 14-team field includes Appalachian State, Belmont, Central Arkansas, Furman, Georgia Southern, Kennesaw State, Mercer, Middle Tennessee, Morehead State, UNC Wilmington, South Carolina, Western Carolina & Wofford

The Mocs tee off Monday morning in an 9 a.m., shotgun start. That begins a 36-hole day with a final 18 coming on Tuesday. Pairings, when available, are located in the Golfstat scoring link above.
