KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis doubles team of (9)
Tomas Rodriguez and
Peyton Gatti saw its historic run fall short in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional title match, falling 6-2, 6-2 to Kentucky's (9) JJ Mercer and Joshua Lapadat on Monday morning in Knoxville.
Rodriguez and Gatti became the first duo in program history to reach both the Semifinal and Championship round of an ITA Regional this week. It was a memorable run for one of the top duos in collegiate tennis.
"We weren't as sharp as we wanted to be in the finals, but this was a special week for these guys and they should be proud of themselves," said head coach
Chuck Merzbacher.
"They proved that they are one of the best teams in the nation."
Chattanooga will now turn its attention to another ITA event. The ITA All-American Championships will be held October 2-10 in Tulsa, Okla. Full event preview and all results from this past weekend's ITA Ohio Valley Regional will be posted at GoMocs.com.
