Game 18 – vs. Furman – Jan. 15 – McKenzie Arena
Postgame Quotes

Lamont Paris, Head Coach

Overall thoughts after win.
"I always tell the guys when they get on the court, they have to make decisions and do everything. I still haven't scored a point as a Moc. They know more than me. What a tremendous performance from our guys, just as competitors. I don't think we played great, especially shooting the ball in the first half. Just a winning, winning effort. That's what winning looks like. Making those type of plays at the end. I thought there were some great performances and I'm proud of the guys."

On tonight's performance from Grant Ledford.
"Not at all surprised. This guy is a natural born scorer and I think it's a natural gift for him. He doesn't have to seek out shots. He naturally finds his way in to field goal attempts without stepping on the gas too much. I'm not surprised. He's a good shooter and a capable scorer. I'm not surprised at all."

On battling Furman atop the league standings.
"They have a good team. They know how to win and the expect to win. They do all the things you have to do to be in position to win, which they did again today. It came down to a play, a shot, whatever. This win says a lot. It shows that we're still learning and getting better. We do have good depth and have many of guys."

Malachi Smith, So.-G
On the scoring stretch this season.
"It's just my teammates getting me in the right spot. In the offseason, it's all the hard work and effort that people don't see. In May, June, July, all the hard work. I think it comes in moments like this. I'm blessed that I've been doing it this long, but it's all because of my teammates."

On working to get better.
"I was talking to Coach about this the other day. I just love and working to get better. It's not a hassle to get up and work, and grind. It's a job to me and I love working. I think it's starting to show."

On playing in a tight, high-level game like this.
"It allows us to look at what we could have done better. We didn't really play our best. This is a team we're going to see again and possibly later. You have to be able to say you've been there before. If the situation comes up again down the line, we'll be ready."

Grant Ledford, So.-G
On a huge performance tonight.
"It helps a lot, it helps boost my confidence. Playing a team like Furman, one of the best teams in the SoCon, so having a good game today feels good. I didn't shoot well at Western the other day and to shoot well today, it felt good."

On bouncing back from Wednesday's loss.
"I just stuck to my routines and I have a lot of confidence in myself and the work I put in. I just stuck to the routines and I knew I'd bounce back. My dad always told me the pendulum always swings both ways. I had a bad shooting night the other night and a good one tonight, that's just how it goes."
