Postgame Quotes
Lamont Paris, Head Coach
Overall thoughts after the 72-64 win over UNCG.
"It was an interesting game. They play really hard and they play really good defense. They have a good defensive team with a good system. Their perimeter defenders are good. I wouldn't want to play them. We turned it over a lot, early especially, and then we kind of cleaned that up in the end. It was a true SoCon road game. We challenged the guys to do it on their own and we turned it around. We did some winning things."
Â
On getting key defensive stops.
"We were hanging in there just because of the defense. We had five-straight turnovers at one point. It was critical. Basketball is a game of runs so you have to do one or the other, you have to get consecutive stops or make baskets. If you do both, you'll be up a lot and if you do neither, you'll be down. Guys figured out some things and we played better."
A.J. Caldwell, RJr.-G
On the team's depth.
"I think that's the beauty of our team. We have so many guys who can make plays at so many different times. Tonight it happened to be or Malachi or Dave, other nights it can be Darius, KC or Silvio. That's just how we're built and it's great being out there with those guys."
Â
On the effort of UNCG's defense.
"UNCG does some different things on defense and it may have caught us by surprise a little bit. Some of the things we are used to weren't there and plays just weren't able to be made. That's something we have to clean up for the next time and we think this can be an outlier. Our turnover numbers are usually down and that's where we'd like to keep it."
Â
On knocking down key shots.
"Every shot has a life. If one shot goes in, the bench gets excited and sees it, and then they think everything can go in. I think Malachi started a three off a broken play and it gave us some life, I was able to add to it and we were able to all build off of it."
