Â
"We adjusted and went to a 2-2-1 press," Mocs head coach
Katie Burrows said. "It's more to slow them down so they don't have enough clock to run the offense. Our girls did a great job finding those opportunities to get them in the corner and trap them. I was proud of the aggressiveness they took three."
Â
The Mocs came out of the gate scoring, but the Catamounts wouldn't stay down for long. After falling behind 7-3 to start the game, Western Carolina went on a 13-4 run to take a 16-11 lead late in the first.

Â
Chattanooga, however, scored the final eight points of the quarter, outscoring WCU 20-7 in the period and led 41-37 heading into the fourth.
Â
"I thought our kids did a better job in the second half getting a tighter hand up on their shooters and switching higher and getting them out of position better," Burrows said. "We played the odds and they did go cold."
Â
Western Carolina tied the game 41-41 at the start of the fourth before the Mocs pushed its lead to 46-41 with 6:10 to play. The Cats pulled to within a point less than two minutes later, but the Mocs would hold them to just three points the rest of the way to win 55-48.
