Postgame Quotes
Lamont Paris, Head Coach
Overall thoughts after the win.
"I have a couple things on my brain right now. What a hard place to play. What a hard place. I don't care what you think you have as a team, who you have, how you're playing, it's so hard. They had everyone in here which made it even more fun with how the game came down to the end. What an awesome, gritty, and tough-it-out kind of game against a good team. That's a really good team. It'll be a nicer trip home now."
Â
On the team's belief to fight off VMI's effort.
"I thought there were some things we did defensively, we had some breakdowns where they scored at the rim. But a lot of the times they just made something. I felt we had them stagnant and they just made something. I think we're filled with belief. We have a lot of belief and pretty good poise. We can grow a little with poise, but we have it on offense and defense. Malachi [Smith] hit a big shot to go up one from down one and I felt like we had a ton of gritty plays."
Â
On who to put on the floor in the final moments.
"When it comes down to the end in a game like this, it's going to come down to defensive trust and matchups, but it comes down to defensive trust. In this game, I was going with the guys who showed what it takes. That's the benefit of having older guys, you're experienced and trust them to do the right things down the stretch."

Darius Banks, Sr.-F
On battling a tough VMI squad.
"Sometimes it just doesn't go your way and I'm glad we could pull this out. They're always a rough, fast, and scrappy team, we just had to make sure to have our physical touch in the paint and make sure we hit the shots on the outside."
Â
On going 2-0 in a tough road trip.
"It was about fighting through adversity, on all ends, both on offense and defense. We had to make sure to make the right plays on offense and then turn it into offense. It has to do with how many guys have experience and leadership. When the clock hits those final moments, we all come together as experienced guys."
