Men’s Tennis Set to Host Annual UTC Steve Baras Fall Invite on Friday and Saturday

TOURNAMENT HOMEPAGE

CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team is set to host its annual UTC Steve Baras Fall Invite this weekend between two locations, utilizing the outdoor courts at the UTC Tennis Center and the indoor courts at nearby McCallie School.

The event has been rescheduled to Friday and Saturday ONLY due to looming inclement weather forecasted for Sunday. There will be one doubles and two singles on Friday and two doubles and one singles on Saturday. Matches begin at 9:30 a.m. ET both days.

In addition to Chattanooga, the likes of Austin Peay, Lipscomb, Jacksonville State, Troy and North Alabama will be competing in the Scenic City this weekend. The event has become a popular fixture on the Mocs fall schedule over the past several years.

"Every fall we host the UTC Steve Baras Invite, named in memory of one of our very own Mocs tennis players," said head coach Chuck Merzbacher. "I know the team looks forward to playing at home and being a part of the Mocs Tennis tradition.

"The teams participating are strong regional rivalries, so the tennis will be good. As for most of the team, the UTC Steve Baras is their final tourney of the fall and we want to finish strong."

The UTC Steve Baras Invite will be held as a "Compass" style draw with separate flights and "regions" determining advancement in the event. All initial singles and doubles draws, with time and locations have been posted at the tournament page on the ITA website which can be found at the link above.

Results from the event will be posted on the tournament home site, when available, following the conclusion of each match.
