CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team opens up the 2022-23 home schedule with a matchup against NAIA member Oakland City (Ind.) on Thursday night inside McKenzie Arena. Tip-off is set for 7PM.
Chattanooga (0-1) is looking to bounce back from Monday night's 85-78 loss at College of Charleston to open the season. The Mocs fell behind by as much as 14 in the first half before clawing its way back to get within a possession with under three minutes left in the contest before ultimately falling to the Cougars.
The Mocs moved to just 1-12 all-time in road games at Charleston and have dropped the last five in the series' history. UTC committed 21 turnovers, the most in a game since late 2019, while suffering a wide 27-6 disadvantage in points off the bench.
SoCon Preseason Player of the Year Jake Stephens and UAB transfer Jamal Johnson paced the team with 20 points each while Stephens collected 11 boards to notch a season-opening double-double. Demetrius Davis went 8-of-10 from the floor including a 3-of-4 mark from deep and recorded a double-double, finishing with 19 points and 12 rebounds in his NCAA DI debut.
Chattanooga saw eight players make their UTC debuts on Monday, four of which were making their NCAA DI debuts. Brody Robinson and Sam Alexis both saw minutes as true freshmen while local product Randy Brady saw his first collegiate minutes after redshirting last season. Brady finished with four points, three rebounds and two assists.

ENTERING THE DAN EARL ERA
Head coach Dan Earl begins his first season at the helm after accepting the job on March 31, 2022, replacing Lamont Paris who accepted a head coaching job at South Carolina. Earl comes to the Scenic City following a seven-year stint as the head coach of SoCon foe VMI. He was named the SoCon COTY in 2020-21 after leading the Keydets to its first winning season since 2013-14.
HARD HAT MCKENZIE ARENA
Chattanooga's famous home, The McKenzie Arena, will look a little different to fans who attend games in the Roundhouse this season. The arena is experiencing ongoing construction efforts as the new $34M, 37,000 square foot Wolford Family Athletic Center is being constructed.
The athletic center is will provide the football program, fellow student-athletes, and UTC staff with much needed additional space. The building will feature an upgrade to team meeting rooms, sports medicine facilities, staff office necessities, among other crucial tangibles to help grow the identity of Chattanooga Athletics.
LIMITED CAPACITY
Due to the ongoing construction, McKenzie Arena and its capacity will be greatly affected during the 2022-23 season. The arena will be capped at around 4,000 fans with lower bowl seating ONLY for the duration of the season.

Single-game and season tickets are now on sale. General admission pricing begins at $10 for both the men and women with a $12 option available for the men's games. Padded reserved seating for the women's games is $16 and $20 for the men while a $15 reserved option is also available for the men's games.
