Women's Basketball Hosts Mercer Thursday

Chattanooga will honor all female student-athletes at the game for National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team returns to The McKenzie Arena Thursday to take on Southern Conference-leading Mercer. The Mocs will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day with a BOGO ticket offer for youth girl groups.
This will be the second game against Mercer this season. The Mocs and Bears opened SoCon play on Jan. 8 with Mercer coming out on top 69-52. The Bears (13-6) lead the Southern Conference with a 6-1 mark through the first half of league play. Chattanooga's (4-3 SoCon) four-game SoCon win streak was snapped last weekend with losses at Wofford and Furman.

UTC was without three players including starters Abbey Cornelius and Brooke Hampel due to illness. The Mocs played it close with the Bears and took the lead in the third quarter. A fourth quarter run by Mercer put the game out of reach. Amaria Pugh led the Mocs with 17 points, Addie Grace Porter added eight points, five assists and four steals while Leah Jones, making her first collegiate start, had a team-best nine rebounds.
