Postgame Quotes

Lamont Paris, Head Coach
Overall thoughts after hard-fought 83-77 win over ETSU.
"I thought for 95 percent of the game, the guys were fantastic. Not only their play, but their energy, their emotion, their decision making. Obviously, you get in situations like that in the end, it's made a lot easier for one team. One team has to be super aggressive. It is what it is. What a special, special group. I said that from day one. I'm so proud and happy for them. From where we started to where we are now, to get a conference championship, it's not easy to do."

On Grant Ledford's performance.
"It never fails when you get towards the end of the season, particularly in tournament time, games come down to special performances from one guy. Sometimes it's your main guys who have to do something even more special than what they're used to doing. Often times it comes down to someone stepping up."

On the SoCon Regular Season title.
"I want to refute the narrative that make it seems like three games in the tournament is more difficult than playing an 18-game schedule and coming out on top. This is just the second Southern Conference regular season title since 1994. Since 1994. It's difficult. I want to give credence to what this is and what this means. It's an incredible feather in these guys hats. I try to put anything personal way down the list for me. Nothing makes me feel better than knowing these guys are Southern Conference champs. They have that forever."

Grant Ledford, So.-G
On tonight's game.
"We know every game we're going to get the other team's best effort. Guys have to step up and we have all stepped up at different times this season. Tonight was my night. When the second one went in, I knew it was going to be a good night."

On tonight's career performance.
"It's a great feeling. I've had a lot of ups and downs in my career and to see those shots go in tonight, it felt really good. It's a really good feeling. I just try to make winning plays out there and tonight I was hitting shots I tried to stay aggressive and just play my game."

On earning the SoCon title.
"When Coach was recruiting me, we talked about building the program and building something special here. I've been here through a big part of that development and we have a great group. I love my teammates and being around them every day. It feels great."
