Greeneville, Tenn.– Chattanooga's beach volleyball team began the 2022 season with an Opening Day sweep, logging wins over Tusculum (3-2) and Eastern Kentucky (4-1).

In the first matchup of the day vs. Tusculum, the two teams were tied at one after they split matches at the four and five pairs. Baylee Young and Neva Clark won at the top spot to give the Mocs a 2-1 lead, but the Pioneers won at No. 2 to tie the match at two. Bailey Steger and Hanley Lomax won their contest at No. 3, 2-1 to give the Mocs a season-opening win.

Against Eastern Kentucky, Victoria Cerino and Madi Morris got the contest started with a sweep at No. 4 to put the Mocs up 1-0. After EKU won the No. 5 match that went the distance, the Blue and Gold took a 2-1 lead with a straight set win at No. 3 from Steger and Lomax.

UTC completed its 4-1 win with three-set victories with Young and Clark rounding out their 2-0 day at the top spot and Gylian Finch and Paige Gallentine garnering their first win of the season at No. 2.  

The Mocs return to the sand tomorrow to close out opening weekend with Carson Newman at 11 a.m.
