Hannah Wood Tabbed SoCon Pitcher of the Week

The Tennessee native went 2-0 with a 0.40 ERA in four appearances

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga softball's Hannah Wood was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week after allowing just one run in 17.1 innings of work. The league office announced the award Monday afternoon.
 
Wood went 2-0 and registered a save in one start and three relief appearances. She picked up a win in UTC's 5-3 victory over Georgia State on Tuesday, shutting out the Panthers in 6.2 innings of relief.
 
Over the weekend, she threw a scoreless inning against Bucknell on Friday before tossing a complete-game shutout against the Bison a day later. It was the second seven-inning complete-game shutout of her career. She allowed four hits and struck out three. In the weekend finale, Wood pitched 2.2 innings of relief against Southeastern Louisiana and picked up a save. She allowed just one run all weekend, and that was with two outs in the final inning of work.
 
Overall, the Chattanooga native struck out six, did not allow a walk, and gave up just one run on 10 hits in 17.1 innings on the bump.
 
This was the first weekly accolade of Wood's career.
 
Wood and the Mocs return to the diamond on Wednesday at Lipscomb for their final tune up before SoCon action. First pitch in Nashville is slated for 5 p.m. EST. This weekend, the Blue and Gold host Furman in the first SoCon series of the season on Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27.
