CHATTANOOGA – Chattanooga's Beach Volleyball team split two 5-0 decisions on Saturday, wrapping up Ohio Valley Conference Weekend at Chattanooga. The Mocs began the day with a 5-0 win over Eastern Illinois before dropping a 5-0 match to Austin Peay.
 
The Mocs won all 10 sets against Eastern Illinois in the opening dual. In the second contest, the Govs forced a third set at the top three pairs and won each third set by two points, securing a 5-0 win.
 
The Mocs moved to 10-4 overall and 2-2 in the OVC. Austin Peay improved to 6-5, 3-1. In its first season as a program Eastern Illinois is still looking for its first win as they fell to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in conference duals.
 
After picking up its first OVC loss yesterday, Chattanooga avenged the defeat with a strong 5-0 victory over Eastern Illinois. The Mocs began the match with a dominant 21-8, 21-5 decision by Kaye Gresham and Joy Courtright at No. 5. The hosts took a 2-0 lead with a straight set (21-15, 21-11) win at No. 4 courtesy of Victoria Cerino and Madi Morris.
 
The Mocs secured the win with Bailey Steger and Grace Frigaard's first victory as a duo, a 21-16, 21-8 decision. At the top two spots, Chattanooga picked up the sweep with a 21-14, 21-11 win at the No. 1 pair from Baylee Young and Gylian Finch followed by a 21-16, 21-19 win from the No. 2 pair of Paige Gallentine and Neva Clark. 
 
In the second dual, the Mocs dropped matches at the No. 4 and 5 pairs, going down 0-2 for the first time this weekend. All three of the top three pairs went three sets after the Mocs won the first and the Govs took the second stanza. The Govs won the second set at the No. 1 and 3 pair, 21-17 and won at No. 2, 21-19.
 
The visitors secured the dual with a back-and-forth 17-15 third-set victory at the top pair. The Govs finalized the 5-0 win with 15-13 decisions at the No. 2 and 3 pairs in the third set.
