CHATTANOOGA – The Chattanooga Mocs' softball team will compete in the final series of the 2022 regular season this weekend as the Blue and Gold travel to Cullowhee, N.C. to face the Western Carolina Catamounts at the Catamount Softball Complex.
The series begins with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday before concluding with a noon series finale on Sunday.

Chattanooga (22-25, 6-9 SoCon) at Western Carolina (18-29, 4-11 SoCon)

A LOOK A CHATTANOOGA
The Mocs enter the final week of the regular season at 22-25 overall and 6-9 in the SoCon. Chattanooga is third in the league with a .269 batting average as a team led by Emily Coltharp who paces the conference with a .366 average. In league contests, Coltharp is hitting .352, while Kailey Snell (.346), Acelynn Sellers (.327) and Reagan Armour (.318) also are hitting above the .300 mark.
In the circle, the team holds a 3.30 ERA. Brooke Parrott has a team-best 2.66 ERA followed by Hannah Wood (2.76). Parrott's ERA is the third-best in the league, while Wood's mark is fourth.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Western Carolina is 18-28 overall this season and is hitting .233 as a squad with a 3.89 ERA. The team is led offensively by Bailey Huneycutt who is third in the league with a .331 batting average. She has 13 home runs, which is second among SoCon players. She is slugging .677 with seven doubles and has driven in 46 runs.
SOCON SEEDING IMPLICATIONS
The Mocs are currently 6-9 in the SoCon, which is fourth in the league's standings. UNCG and Samford are both 14-1 and play each other this weekend to decide who will be the No. 1 seed and the regular-season champion. Furman is 7-8, currently one game ahead of UTC. The Paladins play ETSU (2-13) this weekend. Mercer (7-11) is fifth in the standings and Western Carolina (4-11) is sixth. The Mocs hold the tiebreaker over Furman if the two teams end the season with the same SoCon record.
SERIES HISTORY
Chattanooga leads the all-time series 40-8 against Western Carolina and is 16-2 in Cullowhee.
UP NEXT
Following the three-game series in Cullowhee, the Mocs will head to the SoCon Tournament in Greensboro, N.C. The tournament takes place from May 11-14.
