SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- The Southern Conference announce its 2022 Spring Academic All-SoCon teams Tuesday morning and the Chattanooga Mocs continued its successful presence in the classroom. The Mocs posted a combined 57 selections across 10 different sports, second-most selections on record in UTC history.

Mark Wharton said. "Their hard work being rewarded and recognized only fuels that fire to continue to excel.

In total, the Southern Conference saw a combined 637 selections from 525 student-athletes to the all-academic teams with Chattanooga making up for 11.2% of the honorees. Chattanooga finished the Spring 2022 term with a 3.237 overall student-athlete GPA, marking the 16
th time in the last 17 semesters with a 3.0 or better GPA.

The 57 selections to the Academic All-SoCon team this semester is second-most in UTC history, closely trailing the record of 62 selections in the spring of 2015. Women's basketball tied its program record from last season with four student-athlete honorees while the men's tennis team saw five selections for the third season in-a-row and third all-time.

To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average at the conclusion of the fall semester and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions during the recently concluded campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.

Academic All-SoCon Notes
- 57 overall is second-most on record (62 in spring 2015).
- Women's basketball tied a program record (2021) with four members earning Academic All-SoCon honors.
- Men's golf had three or more on the Academic All-SoCon team for the fourth time in program history (2016, 2017 (4), 2021 (4), 2022).
- Five members of the men's tennis team earned Academic All-SoCon honors for the third time in program history and the third year in a row … program record is six in 2021.
- Eight members of the SoCon Champion softball team made Academic All-SoCon, tying for the second-most in team history.
- Wrestling's four Academic All-SoCon selections tie for second-most in program history.
