CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team looks to finish fall the right way at the Mercer Invitational this week. The 12-team collegiate field tackles River Forest Golf Club in rural Georgia looking to carry momentum into the season's break.
It's a familiar group. Makenzie Cooper, Violeta Fernandez-Tagle, Giulia Foresta and Kera Healey are making their fourth starts in as many events with Nieves Martin in the lineup for the second straight week. The last time out at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate, this crew authored the second best 18-hole score of the season, 3-over 287 at Cherokee Country Club.
They'll tackle a new venue for the program. River Forest in Forsyth is a 6,040-yard, par 72 venue hosting a 36-hole day Monday before a final 18 on Tuesday. The 9 a.m., shotgun start is paired in foursomes with the Mocs matched up with the host Bears, fellow SoCon rivals Samford and Daytona State. Daytona and Seminole State are two junior college teams in the field playing as individuals against NCAA competition.

- 2nd entry in the Mercer Invitational. Prior finish was 2nd in 2020 with a 3rd-place ending for Esme Hamilton '22.
- 11 par or better cards so far with seven under par 18s. That's led by Cooper's four. She's 3 under over her last 108 holes.
- Fernandez-Tagle is off to a great start. She's played par or better on 80.9 percent of her first 162 collegiate holes (131). She leads the team in pars with 116 & fewest bogeys (30).
