PREVIEW: Wrestling Closes Dual Season with Two for the Weekend

Lincoln Heck

Lincoln Heck and the Chattanooga Mocs look to end the regular season on a high note hosting Bellarmine Friday and Indiana on Sunday.

NOTES | STATS

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs head into the final weekend of the regular season with two matches in Maclellan Gym. Friday features the last Southern Conference bout with Bellarmine in town, while Sunday sees the Indiana Hoosiers in the Scenic City.

The Friday night fight is between the third (Chattanooga) and fourth place (Bellarmine) teams currently in the SoCon standings. It's just the third meeting between the two with the Knights joining the league in 2020 after elevating to DI status.

The Hoosiers are the fifth Big Ten opponent of the campaign and third "Power 5" opponent to pay a visit. The first was a 27-12 loss to No. 2 Iowa, while the other was a narrow 22-16 loss to No. 24 West Virginia.

"Looking for that improvement from last Friday to Sunday into this Friday and Sunday," Coach Kyle Ruschell explained. "Just the level of intensity, the pressure, the 'in the guy's face', forcing more wrestling positions instead of sitting back and waiting. Postseason is all about going to take what's yours and what you want, instead of hoping it comes to you.

"That's what we're looking to build into this week as we continue to prepare for the SoCon and NCAA Championships in March."

Friday night is Camper Reunion Night with the Mocs signing autographs following the match which begins at 7 p.m. Sunday is Senior Day with a senior trading card giveaway. That match starts at 2 p.m. Both matches feature on ESPN+ with live scoring available @UTCWrestling on Twitter and Track scoring via GoMocs.com's wrestling schedule page.
