RECAP: Wrestling Controls Bellarmine in SoCon Finale

Rocky Jordan

Rocky Jordan and the Chattanooga Mocs roll to an easy win over Bellarmine.

RESULTS

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs cruised to a 32-8 win over Bellarmine in Maclellan Gym Friday night. The Mocs won eight matches earning bonus points in six completing the Southern Conference schedule at 6-2.

"Pleased overall (with the win)," Coach Kyle Ruschell began. "Our guys were looking for offense, looking to score, looking to bully the guys up a little bit. But there's moments in the matches, top to bottom where we let their guys build a little confidence, and they made it hard on us.

"We just need to nip that in the bud and just say, hey, this is my match, those are my points and I'm not giving you anything. I liked where we were, but there's moments in the match where we just gotta say no you're not getting anything from me."

The Mocs close out the dual season Sunday with a visit by Indiana. The Senior Day Match starts at 2 p.m.

QUOTABLE
"Thomas Self did a great job of what I talked about earlier. He got the first takedown, rode the guy. Then again, got a reversal right away, and the guy just kind of broke. He didn't build any confidence, and then Thomas did his job in the third. As a team, we need to have more moments like that." – Ruschell on Thomas Sell's work wrestling up at 197

"The first three to five minutes of his match was great stuff. Stuff that only Kamdyn can do. It's slick. It's great. But that third period, that's what we got to work on." – Ruschell on Munro's first collegiate dual victory
