CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs lost its final dual of the 2022-23 season to Indiana 32-3. It's a disappointing final result with eight of the 10 matches ending in close decisions. Seven of those went to the Hoosiers.
Â
Even still, this day was about the seven seniors honored pre-match.
Â
"The guys who have been here a long time," Coach Kyle Ruschell began. "It's tough (to come up with the right words). You hate to see them leave, but you're excited for the next part of their journey in life.
Â
"
Matthew Waddell (5 years in the program) has been exciting since he's been here. Guys like Rocky (Jordan) and
Jake Boyd were good additions for this year as leaders in the room. Franco has been here six and is just a special kid.
Â
"Really, all of them are really special guys, and we're just glad they chose Chattanooga."
Â
The seven honorees included Boyd, Jordan, Valdes, Waddell,
Thomas Sell,
Carial Tarter and
Weston Wichman.
Â
The Mocs are off until March 4. Next up is the Southern Conference Championships in Boone, N.C. The all-day affair has been won a record 29 times by Chattanooga in 45 entries.

QUOTABLE
"We lost a lot of close decisions. Those are matches we won at their place last year. I think we just got to pressure a little bit more. It's not like we got our butts kicked. The team score said that, but individually, we didn't get our butts kicked. It was just little positions here and there." –
Ruschell on today's outcome
Â
"I told every one of them that they're 0-0. You can still go out and win a national title. It's all there for each of them. For some, that road's tougher than others, but we work and compete to get to this point." –
Ruschell on the path ahead

UPCOMING MATCHES
March 4: Southern Conference Championships (Boone, N.C.)
March 16-18: NCAA Championships (Tulsa, Okla.)
