Softball Hosts Tennessee State Wednesday

The game will be played in the quad at Warner Park.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs softball team will host Tennessee State Wednesday evening at Warner Park.

The Mocs are 3-2 after a pair of season-opening tournaments and went 2-2 in the Chattanooga Challenge. Friday's games for UTC were called off due to weather and field conditions at Warner Park. On Saturday, UTC defeated Marshall 7-4 then followed that up with a 5-4 win over Western Illinois.
 
Chattanooga's pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts against Marshall and eight against Western Illinois. The Mocs freshmen pitchers Taylor Long (9 SO) and Peja Goold (7 SO) combined for 16 of those.
 
On Sunday, Chattanooga was tripped up 5-4 by Maine and 4-2 by Indiana State in the final game of the tournament.
 
Addy Keylon was 4-for-10 over the two days and had four hits, three home runs and five RBI while drawing a walk. She blasted two homeruns against Western Illinois. In the second inning she had a three-run shot and ripped a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth that would be the game winner.
 
Tennessee State is 6-2 on the year. The Tigers started the year with a 4-0 sweep in the River City Classic in Vicksburg, Miss., followed by a 2-2 performance at the Roar City Classic in Nashville.
 
TSU got wins over Xavier (La.), Jackson State, Grambling and Alcorn State while in the season-opening tournament while beating Alabama A&M twice in Nashville. The Tigers fell to North Alabama and Bradley.
