Women's Basketball Places Three on Academic All-District Team

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga's Abbey Cornelius, Sigrun Olafsdottir and Addie Grace Porter were named to the College Sports Communicators 2022-23 Women's Basketball Academic All-District Team.
 
Abbey Cornelius, in her fifth season, is working towards her Master's in Business Administration and has a 3.97 GPA. She has played in every game for the Mocs this season and has played in more games than any other Chattanooga player in program history. Abbey became just the third UTC player to top 1,000 points, 800 rebounds and 150 blocked shots.
 
Sigrun Olafsdottir, studying SORT Management, has a 3.81 GPA in her third season with UTC. She played in all 29 games for UTC with 26 starts and is second on the team in steals. She played for the U15, U16, U18 and Senior National Teams for Iceland and received an invitation to practice with the Icelandic National Team in the summer of 2021.
 
Addie Grace Porter has a 3.75 GPA in Communication. She has started every game this season ranks in the top third in the NCAA for minutes played. She leads Chattanooga in rebounds and pulled down a career-high 20 against Furman this season.

The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.
 
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid March. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the links above.
