Softball Opens Three-Game Series at FGCU Thursday

Thursday's game is slated for a 6:00 p.m. start while Friday begins the double header at 5:00 p.m.

FT. MYERS, Fla. --- The Chattanooga softball team moves a little further south to continue play in Florida this week with a three-game series against Florida Gulf Coast. The two will play a single game on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and a double-header Friday beginning at 5:00 p.m.

ABOUT CHATTANOOGA (14-7)
Chattanooga is 14-7 overall and on a five-game win streak. Freshmen pitchers Peja Goold (4-3) and Taylor Long (4-1) lead the Mocs with a combined 8-4 record. Each has pitched a complete game and Long has one save.
 
Long recorded a UTC season-high 15 strikeouts in the Mocs 5-0 win over Detroit Mercy on March 5. It was her first start and she threw a complete game to give Mocs' head coach Frank Reed his 700th win at Chattanooga. She is third in the SoCon with a 1.72 ERA.
 
Goold went 7.1 innings against Lafayette with 12 strikeouts. She threw all nine innings at home in the Mocs loss to Akron in the Frost Classic. She has four starts on the season and has pitched 37.2 innings. Goold is ranked second in the SoCon with a 1.67 ERA.
 
Senior Emily Coltharp has started all 21 games for UTC at second. She is fifth in the SoCon with a.347 (25-72) batting average, has two triples and six doubles with four RBI. Her 17 runs scored and 7-of-9 stolen bases are both fourth-best in the league.
 
Acelynn Sellers leads UTC with 15 RBI and is hitting .309 on the year with seven extra base hits that includes a pair of home runs. Olivia Lipari has 13 RBI with eight extra base hits and is batting .300 in her 21 starts at shortstop and outfield. Addy Keylon has a team-high five home runs, is batting .311 and has nine RBI.
 
Chattanooga leads the SoCon with a .285 batting average, has conference-best 2.61 ERA and is second with a .968 fielding percentage.
 
ABOUT FGCU (15-12)
FGCU enters the six-game homestand after a 2-3 showing in Tampa at the USF Tournament.
 
FGCU ranks sixth in the nation in total stolen bases with 67, and No. 14 in steals per game, averaging 2.48. Nevada holds the nation's top mark in total steals with 88. Against Saint Francis, FGCU set the single-game school record with 12 stolen bases.
 
Freshman Emily Chiarella, freshman Olivia Black, and sophomore Avery Viancos  have each recorded 14 stolen bases this season -- tying for second in the ASUN Conference and 25th nationally. FGCU is 0-6 on the year in games without a stolen base and a perfect 10-0 in games with three or more.
Tayli Filla is fourth in the ASUN with 21 RBI and Kayleigh Rober is fifth at 19. Both are tied for fourth in the conference in overall homeruns with four each. In the circle Ally Hulme needs 15 strikeouts to move into the Eagles' all-time Top 10 list. She leads the Eagles with five wins while Angelina Bonilla leads FGCU in strikeouts with 45.
