MEN'S PREVIEW
Chattanooga (13-4, 3-0 SoCon) looks to build on its best start to SoCon play since 2002 following its historic win over ETSU and an additional victory over Mercer last weekend. It'll be another tough task with strong league opponents visiting the Scenic City.
Furman (7-11, 1-1 SoCon) enters the weekend coming off a 5-2 loss at home against Samford on Monday. The Paladins have won the last 18 meetings against the Mocs and own a 40-13 all-time record in the series' history.
"Furman, as well as ETSU, have been a real mainstay at the top of the conference. As always, it will be a battle and we are focused on just taking care of us," said head coach
Chuck Merzbacher.
Wofford (5-12, 1-3 SoCon) also heads to Chattanooga looking to rebound from a defeat to Samford after falling 7-0 to the Bulldogs on Sunday. The Mocs have won the last four over the Terriers and own a 19-11 all-time record.
"Wofford has depth and they are gritty. We've had some great matches with them in recent years and I'm sure Sunday will be no different," added Merzbacher.
Sunday's contest will be Senior Day for the men's program as the squad will honor its two celebrated seniors in
Kerim Hyatt and
Simon Labbe.
"I'm looking forward to celebrating two amazing seniors in Kerim and Simon. These two have been awesome teammates and have been fully invested in the program," Merzbacher stated.
WOMEN'S PREVIEW
Chattanooga (12-5, 1-2 SoCon) is coming off its first league win of the season with a 4-3 decision at Wofford last Sunday. The win snapped a four-match skid which followed an eight-match winning streak that spanned nearly a month.
"There may be only a few SoCon matches left but there's a lot of great tennis ahead," said head coach
Chad Camper. "The team has had a great week on the court and look forward to putting it together on Sunday."
UNCG (4-13, 0-4 SoCon) is looking for its first league win of the season after dropping contests to Furman, ETSU, Wofford and Western Carolina earlier in the slate. The Mocs and Spartans are locked 13-13 in the all-time series with the Scenic City representatives winning seven of the last nine.
