Softball on the Road at ETSU for SoCon Series

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga softball team will hit the road for a three-game weekend Southern Conference series with East Tennessee State in Johnson City, Tenn., Saturday and Sunday, April 15-16.

LAST OUTING
The Mocs moved their series with Western Carolina up a day to avoid inclement weather. UTC and WCU split the double header on Thursday and the Mocs won the series with a win on Friday.
 
ABOUT CHATTANOOGA (19-17, 2-4 SoCon)
The Mocs went 2-1 against Western Carolina last week, winning its first SoCon series of the season. In the league standings, UTC is second in with a .267 batting average and leads the league in pitching with a 3.02 ERA and fielding (.968). The Mocs have 260 hits with 70 multi-base hits that include 24 home runs. They lead the conference in strikeouts with 226 and are third-fewest for errors.
 
Kaili Phillips leads the Mocs with a .341 batting average and is sixth in the league with seven home runs. Addy Keylon, second on the team with a .276 batting average, leads the Mocs with eight homers. Acelynn Sellers had a team-best 28 RBI and matches Emily Coltharp with a .271 batting average. Taylor Long leads the team with a 2.39 ERA and Peja Goold has a team-high seven wins.
 
ABOUT ETSU (10-27, 3-6 SoCon)
The Bucs took a pair of wins from Furman to win the series and took a 7-3 victory at Samford in the final game of their series last week before dropping a pair against former SoCon foe Appalachian State Tuesday. ETSU is sixth in the SoCon with a .256 batting average, has a 4.93 ERA (6th) and third in fielding percentage (.965).
 
Sara Muir leads the Bucs with .343 batting average with eight home runs and 24 RBI. Cameron Young is just behind her in the SoCon standings with a .342 batting average with 41 hits. Brianna Bailey has a 3.15 ERA with a 7-9 record. Muir is second with a 3.66 ERA and a 1-5 record.
 
CHATTANOOGA vs. ETSU
The Mocs lead the series 32-11 against the Bucs. UTC has won the last seven games and is 8-2 over the last 10. In Johnson City, UTC leads the series
 
LAST TIME THEY MET
UTC swept the Bucs last season in Chattanooga. The Mocs won the first game in extra innings in walk-off fashion. Emily Coltharp's RBI single up the middle in the eighth secured the 5-4 win. In game two, ETSU pulled to within a pair of runs in the top of the fifth with three runs, but Chattanooga added three in the bottom of the sixth for a strong win. In the final game the Mocs started early with five runs in the fifth and only allowed the Bucs one in the second for a 6-1 win.
