Beach Volleyball Set for “OVC Weekend at Morehead State” in Regular Season Finale

The Chattanooga Mocs beach volleyball team competes one final weekend in regular season action before next week’s tournament.

CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs beach volleyball team sets its sights on the final weekend of regular season Ohio Valley Conference play with the "OVC Weekend at Morehead State" event this weekend in Morehead, Ky., featuring all league members.

Chattanooga (14-12, 4-2 OVC) will face the likes of Lindenwood and Eastern Illinois on Friday before wrapping up against Tennessee Tech and the hosts Morehead State on Saturday. All four matches will count towards the OVC standings in anticipation of next week's championships.

"It's another OVC weekend and an important one. The last OVC weekend at home went well for us and we need to attack this weekend with the same hunger," said head coach Darin Van Horn.

"The teams in our league are improving as the season continues. It's a great opportunity to set the tone for our conference tournament next weekend."

The Mocs, sitting at 4-2 in the league standings, trails leader UT Martin (6-0) by a pair of matches and sits one match ahead of Morehead State (3-3) who carries a third-place standing. UTC carries the second-best winning percentage (.538) and second-most wins (14) in the league this season.

Next weekend's OVC Championships will be held in Martin, Tenn., on the campus of the defending champion Skyhawks from April 27-29 at the Skyhawk Beach Complex. The winner of the event will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament held in May in Gulf Shores, Ala.
