Softball Hosts UNCG in Return to Frost Stadium

Wear pink Saturday, $1 hot dogs, "Bark in the Park". SoCon replica rings on Sunday.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga softball team returns to Frost Stadium to host UNCG after spending the season at Warner Park. The weekend will offer many promotions and recognize head coach Frank Reed for a career milestone.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
Head coach Frank Reed claimed his 700th victory as head coach of the Mocs on the road earlier this season. UTC will recognize Coach Reed for his accomplishment prior to the game. He has climbed to 712 wins and is just 12 wins away from 1200 for his career that spans more than 30 year.

TICKETS
Tickets are on sale online at GoMocs.com and the Frost Stadium ticket booth on the day of the game. Gates open one hour prior to first pitch.
 
CHATTANOOGA vs. UNCG
Chattanooga leads the series against the Spartans 60-30 dating back to 1997. The Mocs are 27-11 when playing UNCG at home. The Spartans are 7-3 in the last 10 games UNCG swept the Mocs in the regular season last year before falling in back-to-back games against the Mocs in the 2022 SoCon Tournament, including the championship game, played in Greensboro.
 
ABOUT CHATTANOOGA (21-19, 4-5 SoCon)
The Mocs have won their last two SoCon series against Western Carolina and ETSU. UTC is 6-3 over the last nine games. The Mocs are second in the Southern Conference in batting average (.268), ERA (3.17) and third in fielding (.964). They have 77 extra base hits that includes 49 doubles, three triples and 25 home runs. Kaili Phillips is ninth in the league with a .344 batting average. Acelynn Sellers has a .287 batting average followed by Addy Keylon at .280.
 
Taylor Long is second in the conference standings with a 2.60 ERA followed by Alyssa Lavdis with a 2.78 ERA. Freshman Peja Goold has a team-best seven wins and carries a 2.87 ERA. Brooke Parrott is eighth in the league with a 3.21 ERA.
 
Phillips ranks third in the SoCon in runs scored with a team-best 29. Sellers is third in RBIs with 31 and Emily Coltharp is second for triples and fourth in stolen bases with 11-of-13. Peja Goold ranks fifth in the conference with 72 strikeouts.
 
ABOUT UNCG (26-18, 5-3 SoCon)
The Spartans are second in the Southern Conference standings. They are sixth in the league standings for batting average (.249), third in pitching with a 3.23 team ERA and fifth in fielding percentage (.961). UNCG swept ETSU to start the SoCon season, went 1-2 against Furman and won the Samford series 2-1. Jorde Chartrand is fourth in the SoCon with a team-best .371 batting average. In 97 at bats, she has 36 hits, 20 RBI and five home runs. Brooklyn Maxwell is second on the team with a .323 batting average with 42 hits, 25 RBI and four home runs. Rhyann Jones leads UNCG with a 2.86 ERA, fourth in the SoCon and an 8-2 record. Maddie Spell is seventh in the league with a 3.01 ERA and a 7-5 record and 55 strikeouts on the season.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Mocs will continue through the Southern Conference with a three-game series on the road at Furman April 29-30.
