CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team is coming off one of its best tournament performances in school history. The Mocs set new school records for 18, 36 and 54-hole totals in winning the Wofford Intercollegiate on Tuesday. Now they quickly shift to the Hoosier Collegiate Invitational this weekend.

The same quintet gets the start with one change overall. Sophomore Carson Johnson gets an opportunity as an individual after Nick Etherton got the same shot earlier this week.

The fivesome did not play around with the Wofford field. John Houk got his first DI win firing 17 under, just two ahead of second-place teammate Paul Conroy. Braedon Wear joined the duo in the top 5 at 7 under. Samuel Espinosa (T19, -1) and Garrett Engle (E, 22) round out the squad as all five played the Country Club of Spartanburg at par or better and now look to continue the momentum.

"It's always fun to win and exciting to set records," Coach Blaine Woodruff began. "But we have a quick turnaround here and need to turn the page and prepare to take care of business this week. Nothing changes.

"The guys are playing well because they're just controlling what they can control while playing smart, confident and disciplined. Wherever that puts us on the board at the end of the day, we take it and get ready for the next opportunity."

That plan and process has served Woodruff's bunch well in his first season in the Scenic City. The win at Wofford was the third of the campaign and just the fourth time in school history that the squad has three wins in a single season.

The program performed that trick three years in a row from 2007-09 winning 11 times over that span. Only once has Chattanooga lifted four trophies in one season, and that was the impressive 5-time winners in 2007-08 that ended up ranked 12th nationally among NCAA DI programs.

The Mocs open play at 9 a.m., Saturday morning playing with host Indiana and Illinois State. The 14-team field plays 36 holes on day and a final 18 Sunday. Scoring and pairings, when available, are linked above along with a comprehensive stats/notes package.
