Men’s Golf Announces 2023-24 Schedule

Rising junior Braedon Wear and the Chattanooga Mocs look forward to building on a strong 2022-23 campaign against a challenging slate from Coach Blaine Woodruff.

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team is getting ready to return to campus for the 2023-24 campaign. Several on the roster are competing for the Tennessee Amateur crown and top 10 as we type, while the U.S. Amateur also looms for junior to be Garrett Engle.
That said, Coach Blaine Woodruff and assistant Nick Robinson have a challenging road ahead for their charges who are coming off a fantastic 2022-23 saga. The crew that won four times as a team with two individual wins – Paul Conroy (N.C. State) & John Houk (Wofford) – is largely back. The numbers are eye-catching.

Woodruff did not mince words when looking to challenge his stalwarts to even greater heights in the coming season.
"Really excited about the opportunities we have ahead of us schedule-wise this year," he shared. "We get a chance to defend one of our titles from last year, play a major championship venue, play a PGA Tour venue, get to play in California twice (Home of 2024 NCAAs), and get to wrap up the regular season televised on the Golf Channel.
"It should be a great test and great experience for our guys as we keep trying to improve just a little bit each day."
It starts out at one of the new darlings of major championship golf at the Erin Hills Collegiate (Sept. 3-5). Erin Hills has hosted four USGA titles since opening in 2006: 2008 Women's Pub Links, 2011 Amateur, 2017 Open & 2022 Mid-Am with the 2025 Women's Open already on the schedule.
From there, it's off to Cincinnati for the Bearcat Invite (Sept. 18-19) before waiting a month to defend the Furman Intercollegiate crown (Oct. 22-23). Furman is the lone returning event from the 2022-23 ledger. The fall ends near Mobile, Ala., at the Steelwood Collegiate (Oct. 28-29).
It's an early start to the spring heading to Johns Island, S.C., for the Battle at Briar's Creek (Feb. 5-6) before a trip to PGA West for Stanford's The Prestige event (Feb. 19-21). It's back to Bluffton, S.C., for the Colleton River Collegiate (March 4-5) followed by the General Hackler Collegiate (March 19-21) in Myrtle Beach.
Missouri's Tiger Collegiate Invite (April 8-9) is just ahead of the regular season finale. The Golf Channel is televising the Western Intercollegiate (Apr. 15-17) in picturesque Santa Cruz, Calif.
April 23-25 is the postseason starting point with the Southern Conference Championships. NCAA Regionals are May 14-16 with the opportunity to return to the NCAA Championships May 24-29 in Carlsbad, Calif. The event is on the Champions Course at Omni La Costa Resort, the former home of the PGA Tour's Tournament of Champions as well as the WGC-Accenture Match Play (1999).
The Mocs finished 2022-23 with a top 25 finish at the NCAA Championships. A final ranking of 41 was the highest since 2012 (27). The squad shot 44 under for the year, the first under-par season in school history.
Conroy, Houk, Engle and Samuel Espinosa earned All-SoCon honors. It was just the second time in school history with four awarded in the same year. Other was 2008: Jonathan Hodge '09, Fredrik Qvicker '10, Derek Rende '10 and Ben Rickett '09.
Conroy & Houk made the PING All-East Region squad. They're the first Mocs since Steven Fox '13 & Chris Robb '14 did it in 2013. The Mocs were one of five schools with multiple honorees including Georgia Tech (5), North Carolina (4), Clemson (2) and Duke (2).
