CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs football team is deep into preparation for the 2023 campaign. The Mocs are receiving votes in both major FCS polls with 16 returning starters – eight on offense, seven on defense & one on special teams – and 29 total on the position 2-deep. There's a lot to get excited about so the Mocs Club has a new initiative to get alums, donors and fans involved.
The Pledge Per Win/Pledge Per Touchdown program is now in place. It allows fans to pledge money per win this season of any amount at their comfortable level. That's not the only pledge opportunity.
Â
The offense, and defense for that matter when looking at the history of the
Rusty Wright Era, has its eyes on the per touchdown option. It works the same way as win, donors pick their amount per TD and then the total is up to
Joe Pizzo's group with an assist from
Lorenzo Ward's guys.
Â
"It's another way for our fans to impact our student-athlete experience," Vice-Chancellor for Athletics Mark Wharton noted. "It's a new campaign for us and one we're excited about. It puts our donors in the middle of the action."
Â
Here's how it works:
- Go to the Mocs Club Pledge Per Win/TD page here
- Pledge any amount per victory and/or touchdown throughout the 2023 season.
- At the bottom of the screen, the opportunity to double the pledge for rivalry games with Samford and ETSU is available.
- Watch and cheer the Mocs wins and scores throughout the season.
Â
Weekly updates are provided by email with pledges charged at the conclusion of the season. The first 25 people to pledge $50 or more per win or touchdown receive exclusive Mocs football apparel. Last season, that would have resulted in $350 contribution for wins (7) OR $2,050 per touchdown (41).
Â
How does it impact student-athletes? The Mocs Club is the philanthropic arm of the athletics department. Every dollar it raises directly impacts the championship experience for student-athletes. The most notable is scholarships working to give all programs the necessary tools to bring a competitive and complete student-athlete base.
Â
Others ways to support comes through reserved funds that aid in a variety of ways. Sports medicine, athletics performance, nutrition and academic support services are examples that allow student-athletes to be the best version of themselves in and out of their sport and classroom.
Â
"I think we're at a point now where everybody, every sport has a chance," said Head Football Coach
Rusty Wright recently in
this Times Free Press story. "Before, I think we were spread so thin trying to make everything work, but now I think everyone has a chance to go compete and be competitive.
Â
"We've got good people. That's the thing; there's really good coaches out there in every sport. But the better part is they're better people, and that gives you a chance."
