CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs got off to a great start and never looked back in a 43-3 win at Lindenwood Saturday afternoon. It was an absolutely dominating performance. The Mocs recorded a pin, five tech falls and three majors in building the 40-point triumph.
Â
It began with the first takedown in nine of the 10 bouts with wins in each.
Â
"When you're the favorite, you've got to be aggressive and take them out of the match early," Coach
Kyle Ruschell shared. "We really did that throughout the lineup and did what we practiced. I was really pleased to see that aggression early and often to get us off to the right start."
Â
Freshman 125
Chaz McDonald got it started with a fall just 35 minutes into match one. That firmly set the tone for what was to come.
Â
Â
Blake Boarman (133) and
Isaiah Powe (141) followed with first period tech falls before a match made it past the 3-minute mark. That led to majors by
Matthew Williams (149) and
Lincoln Heck (157) before the techs returned.
Â
Kamdyn Munro (165) clinched the match win in the sixth matchup with five more points with
Sergio Desiante (174) tacking on another. Luke Shaver got Lindenwood on the scoreboard at 184 before
David Harper (197) and
Kaleb Snodgrass (285) put the icing on the cake.
Â
"Everybody wants to get their hand raised," Ruschell added when asked about the slew of bonus points scored. "There is a sense of competition; however, and you build off the confidence of the guy before you. You want to match or exceed them. For the most part, we did just that."
