CHATTANOOGA---The 19th-ranked Chattanooga Mocs and the Wofford Terriers matchup Saturday at Finley Stadium. It's a battle of two teams looking to continue momentum into the second half of the schedule.

The Mocs are on a 3-game win streak toppling Portland State (45-30) at home before sweeping SoCon road trips to ETSU (17-10) and Furman (41-10). The Terriers toppled VMI the last time out, 31-16.

Chattanooga used a simple formula on the road swing. Physical football on both sides of the ball controlling the game. The good guys certainly controlled those contests holding on to the ball 62.0 percent of the time (74:25/45:35) and going +5 in turnover margin with five interceptions and a fumble recovery.

Two keys to the Mocs physical brand of football joined Coach Rusty Wright for today's weekly press conference in tight end Jay Gibson and safety Josh Battle.

Notes
  • A key to the Mocs clock control is an improved third down conversion rate. Over the first three games, just four of 37 opportunities (10.8%) were converted. Over the last three? 25 of 45 (55.6%) including a school-record 11 of 13 against Portland State,
  • 2-1 or better SoCon start in each of Wright's six seasons. First Mocs head coach to do that. The squad reached 3-1 or better through 4 league games in his first five campaigns.
  • Defense has allowed just 24 first downs over last two games - season-low 12 each at ETSU & Furman.
  • Offensive averages during 3-game win streak: 34.3 points per game, 469.0 yards per game total offense, 162.0 yards per game rushing & 307.0 yards per game passing.
  • During 3-game win streak: 6.0 TFLs allowed including a single sack.
  • DE Marquise Freeman had the first d-line score since Toyvian Brand's 44-yard pick 6 at Presbyterian on Sept. 26, 2015. Freeman's 1st career interception was a 47-yard pick 6 at Furman on Oct. 12.
