CHATTANOOGA--- The Chattanooga Mocs and ETSU Bucs meet for the 47th time on Saturday. The scene is set for a 3:30 p.m., kickoff at Greene Stadium in Johnson City, but the hearts and minds of Tennesseans are on the wide area between the two schools devastated by Hurricane Helene.
Student drives to support relief efforts are underway at UTC and ETSU this week ahead of Saturday's gridiron matchup. At Chattanooga, there are campus collection points at:

- UC (inside Mocs Alumni Drive entrance by the bookstore)
- 540 McCallie (entry way near parking lot)
- Decosimo Apartments

For those off campus, donations may also be taken directly to New Blue Construction located at 1134 E 14th Street in Chattanooga anytime from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., or by appointment. More information is

"Our hearts go out to all those affected by this natural disaster," Vice Chancellor for Athletics Mark Wharton said. "It's good to see our next generation of leaders stepping up on campus to aid relief efforts in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. We join ETSU as well as our friends across the Southern Conference working to lessen the impact felt by so many."

The Southern Conference office also started an initiative for the city of Asheville, home to the league's basketball championships. They've partnered with the World Central Kitchen.
