CHATTANOOGA --- Chattanooga volleyball setter Elaine Redman was recognized as the Tennessee Sports Writers Association's Volleyball Player of the Week, the TSWA announced Tuesday evening.
The Chattanooga native has already been etching her name into both UTC and the Southern Conference's record books when it comes to weekly honors, as the senior currently holds the program record for career SoCon POTW honors won (8) putting her one shy of the conference record for career SoCon POTW awards won (9).
Redman now continues to make history by becoming the first-ever Chattanooga volleyball player to be recognized by the TSWA for its weekly award series. When including Southern Conference weekly awards, Redman has now won a total of four POTW honors over the course of the 2024 season.
The honor comes following a week in which Redman and the Mocs captured back-to-back 3-0 sweeps against the likes of ETSU and Western Carolina. Now riding a three-match win streak, UTC continues to climb the Southern Conference standings as the season rolls on.
Over the course of UTC's two sweep victories, Redman tallied a total of 69 assists, 29 digs, six kills, four aces and three blocks for the Mocs. Against ETSU, Redman put up 32 assists with 17 digs to earn a three-set double-double. She then followed this up with yet another three-set double-double against Western Carolina, posting a 37-assist, 12-dig stat line.
Redman now sits at 10 double-doubles on the season and 39 in her career, while ranking first in the Southern Conference and third in Division I in total assists (854). The senior also ranks second in the conference in assists/set (10.29) this season.
Redman and the rest of the Chattanooga volleyball crew return to action this Thursday when the Mocs host Wofford at Maclellan Gymnasium. The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. ET and will also be available to stream via ESPN+.
