Head coach, Deandra Schirmer
On her overall thoughts on the team's dominant win over NC Central.
"Tonight was all about poise and composure. Coming to our first road test against an all out pressure team was a challenge but the way we responded was perfect. I am so proud of this group and how they have bought it into our game plan. Our defense put up another impressive performance by holding them under 40 points. We had a huge emphasis on rebounding as well so to win that margin was a big key to the game."
On everyone getting a chance to play and contribute in the win.
"Our strength is going to be in numbers. We have so many talented players that can help contribute to us winning games. Our bench was phenomenal and almost out scored the other team by themselves. In the process to get everyone to buy into their roles a game like this is a huge reinforcement to the type of unselfish game we are trying to play."
On dealing with NC Central's press and dealing with them trying to create chaos on both ends of the court.
"Caia (Elisaldez) was a one woman wrecking crew against the press. When you can utilize her speed and add in some knock down shooters to spread the court it makes the game simple. It was our plan to keep it simple and I thought we executed that nicely. I was also proud of Sigrun (Olafsdottir) stepping up into the reserve PG roll and almost getting a triple-double. When those two are playing that well we are hard to beat."
Sigrun Olafsdottir, Sr., G/F
On filling up the stat sheet with a near triple-double performance.
"I just try to do whatever I can do for the team to win. It may have been a bit of everything tonight, but everyone chipped in. It was just a good team win."
On the team being able to bounce back in a big way following their tough loss to Tennessee Tech.
"We talk a lot about responding, and we did that tonight. We definitely needed this as a team so that we can know that we're capable of doing this."
On shifting gears to get ready for Troy.
"Like Coach D said, we owe our home fans a win after our last game. We just want to go show them what we've got and be ready for that one."
Gianna Corbitt, Fr., F
On her coming out early and being a driving force for UTC's offense.
"Well our game plan coming is was to punch first rather than get hit. We went out attacking and just took what they were giving us. When we ran out sets, some things were open, some things weren't and we'd keep passing it and everything was just flowing for us. It wasn't just a me thing, it was everyone."
On staying in control despite NC Central's chaotic offensive and defensive looks.
"We're a defensive team. All the antics and fast-paced things that they do, that doesn't matter to us. Once we're set in our half court defense, it's wraps. They very rarely scored on our actual set defense."
Frode Flos van der Schans, RSo., G
On what it meant to her for her team to keep hyping her up whenever she had an impactful moment in the game.
"It means so much. When I finally get that chance and the team is supporting me that much, it's just such a great feeling to know that the whole team is behind you."
On everyone that touched the floor having scored in the game.
"It's really special. We practice so much where anybody can go out there and anybody can score and contribute their own piece, but to actually see it in action tonight was really really cool."
