CHATTANOOGA---The 19th-ranked Chattanooga Mocs are back in Finley Stadium this Saturday hosting the Samford Bulldogs in the final Southern Conference matchup of 2024 for the home squad. The game is slated to kickoff at 1:30 p.m., on ESPN+.

The Mocs look to continue a strong trend on both sides of the ball. The offense has scored 31 or more points in five straight as well as six of the last seven. That's proven to be a group that takes what the defense gives them on the ground and in the air.

Defensively, they've held opponents to 10 or fewer points six times this season including five of the last six. That defense is averaging 12.9 points and 292.4 yards per game of total offense allowed in league play. That's averages of 138.3 on the ground and 154.1 by air.

Last weekend's win continued a historic run by Coach Rusty Wright. It clinched the sixth .500 or better season in six years leading the program. No other Mocs head coach can boast that with only Scrappy Moore (1939-46) able to boast a 6-year run at any point in his leadership of the program.

It also clinched a winning SoCon ledger. He's the only Mocs ball coach to accomplish that in his first six campaigns. Only Russ Huesman has a 6-year winning run as well with it coming over his last six seasons leading his alma mater.

Wright opened today's press conference followed by defensive back Reuben Lowery III and wide receiver Sam Phillips.

Chat with the Mocs is on Tuesday night this week with the men's and women's basketball teams taking over the radio airwaves Monday. The weekly coaches show features Coach Rusty Wright and a selected student-athlete with "Voice of the Mocs" Jim Reynolds from 7-8 p.m., every week at Miller's Ale House at Northgate. This week's special guest is offensive lineman Bryce Goodner.
