CHATTANOOGA---The regular season comes to a close in a familiar location. The Chattanooga Mocs and Austin Peay Govs meet again in Clarksville almost a year to the day from the last matchup there in the 2023 FCS Playoffs. The Mocs claimed the 24-21 walk-off win on

vs. Austin Peay
- The Govs averaged 30.7 points per game over last three matchups.
- The Govs are top 20 nationally in interceptions (16th) with 12. They're led by Sammy Anderson, Jr., with four which is fifth in the country.
- WR Jaden Barnes is third in the country in receiving yards (1,026) & 6th per game (93.3).
- Former Govs all-league long snapper Ethan Myers is the Mocs special teams trigger man.
- Former Mocs special teams guru Bo Spearman is now a Gov. He's third in tackles with 55.
- Sibling rivalry...Mocs RB Solomon Locke's brother Jeffson is a freshman defensive lineman for the Govs. The duo are from nearby Dalton, Ga.
- Four Govs from the Chattanooga area: DB Jeremiah Flemmons (Ooltewah), RB Tetoe Boyd, Jr. (Cleveland), WR Jermiah Skipworth, Jr. (Chattanooga) & Jeffson Locke.
- There are no current Mocs from Clarksville. It was home to standout WR C.J. Board (2013-16) who went on to play several seasons in the NFL most notably with the N.Y. Giants.
Â
Notes
- 6-5 on the season and 5-3 in the Southern Conference. 6th winning conference ledger in a row. Second longest all-time as a team behind nine from 1977-85. Longest by one head coach.
- Winners in eight of last 10 FCS road games.
- Clinched 7th straight .500 or better campaign with win at The Citadel. It's the 2nd-longest streak in school history behind 11 from 1975-85 (Coaches Joe Morrison, Bill Oliver & Buddy Nix).
- Four wins by three or more scores (21+ points). Most since five in 2016 (4 FCS). The Mocs have had five or more six times: 1926 (5), 1942 (5), 1946 (5), 1952 (6), 2014 (6) & 2016.
- Six games with 31 or more points for the offense are the most since six in 2022 and tied for fourth most in any campaign. There are just eight seasons with six or more with a record 11 in 2014.
- Conversely…the defense has limited opponents to 10 points or fewer six times. That's happened in 20 seasons, but just three times in the last 43 seasons (1982, 1985 & 2024). The record is nine in 1931.
- Defense ranks fourth nationally in interceptions (17) & seventh in turnovers gained (24). Add seven fumble recoveries for the 24 turnovers created. The Mocs scored on 12 drives following turnovers and have three defensive scores with two pick-6's (Lowery/Marquise Freeman) and a scoop & score (Leroy Harris III).
- QB Luke Schomburg has made six career starts, five on the road - 2023: at Alabama, at Austin Peay (Playoffs) & at Furman (Playoffs)/2024: at Western Carolina & at The Citadel. Fun fact, least pressurized start for Schomburg was his first...at No. 8 Alabama. Other five came in FCS Playoffs (2) and conference championship/FCS Playoffs race (at Western/at The Citadel/Samford).
