Postgame Quotes

Fortera Stadium – Clarksville, Tenn.
Rusty Wright, Head Coach
On message coming in to today.
"I told them to enjoy the day. We only get so many opportunities to play college football. I thought our group was ready to play and we played a good game of football today. I thought it was just a good overall group effort."
Â
Overall thoughts after 24-17 win.
"Credit to those coaches and those players. Everyone was ready to play today. My problem from last Saturday was that we didn't fight back. And that's not who we are as coaches, as a team, as a program. I told them I don't care what happens today, but I wanted to see them fight back and battle. That's what I wanted to see most today, and that's a really good team on that other sideline. They have some guys. We needed that effort."
Â
On tomorrow's selection decision.
"There's nothing we can do now. Just make it tough on the ones who make the decision. That's all we could have done today. I'm just really happy for our seniors, our football team, and our coaches. That was the worst game we played in three years last year. And for them to get up and come up here and play like this, it's a testament to that locker room. I want to be around these kids as long as possible. That's why I do what I do. I want to be around them as long as I can, they're such good people. I want to see them do well with every opportunity and I want to see them keep playing."
Â
On execution today.
"I thought our kids executed the game plan really well all day. We wanted to keep playing one snap at a time, stay focused, and remain locked in as long as possible. I thought the coaches were fantastic. I thought both sides of the ball, they called a really good game."
Chase Artopoeus, QB-Sr.
On stepping in today.
"I could finally feel like I could throw without pain. I felt pretty good. Once my number did get called, I was excited to get in. It was a fun game to get back out there too. Hopefully we have another chance to play next week."
Â
On coming in after last week's tough defeat.
"We showed up. We all had a bad taste in our mouth from last week, and we just wanted to show up and play for each other, play for the guys. This was actually one of my favorite college football games I've ever played in."
Â
On connecting with Chris Domercant.
"I was excited to hit one with him. We've been close all year and had flashes. But it was great and I'm proud of him. I'm going to miss throwing to him."
Â
Jay Gibson, TE-Gr.
On today's win at APSU.
"It feels good to get another win here. They're a really good team and a talented team. We wanted to get that taste out of our mouth from last week. It's always nice to get a win on the road."
Â
On argument to selection committee.
"We played a tough schedule, two FBS opponents right out of the gate. We're getting some guys back from injury. I think we're still getting better. I hope it's good enough to keep playing."
Alex Mitchell, Sr.-LB
On defense's effort.
"We came together as a whole. We really believe in this defense and it's been great seeing everything come together. I think we're really coming together here at the end. We'll be ready if there's another game."
