CHATTANOOGA (December 15, 2024) – The Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team went wire-to-wire behind an impressive shooting display to claim an 85-63 victory over Alabama A&M in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon inside McKenzie Arena.
 
Chattanooga (7-4) saw its offensive effort set season bests in threes made (14) and field goal percentage (51.0%, 25-49) during the win over Alabama A&M (4-6). The two teams were tied just once early (3-3) before UTC claimed and held the lead over the final 38:23 of action.
 
Honor Huff (24) and Trey Bonham (21) combined for 45 points and nine 3PTM during the win with Huff leading the team in the +/- category (+33) in an equivalent 33 minutes of floor time. The balanced offensive attack saw 10 different Mocs land in the scoring column with seven scoring six points or more.

GAME FLOW/INSIDE THE BOX
1H 18:45 – Trey Bonham connected on a triple off an Honor Huff assist to open the game's scoring.
1H 15:42 – Huff added to the three-point attack with his first of the game to put UTC ahead 9-3.
1H 11:31 – Angok Anyang (AAMU) stopped a five-plus minute scoring drought for the Bulldogs with a layup to make it 15-4 in favor of UTC. 
1H 10:39 – Darius Ford (AAMU) capped off an 8-0 Bulldogs run to cut the Mocs lead to just three, 14-11.
1H 8:38 – Bonham and Huff hit consecutive triples before AAMU answered with a pair of their own as UTC continued to lead 24-20.

HALF – Chattanooga 40, Alabama A&M 26: Chattanooga shot 12-26 (46.2%) from the field; 19 of the 26 FGA were from 3PT (7-19, 36.8%); UTC earned a 20-13 rebounding edge; Mocs went 9-10 (90.0%) from the FT line.

2H 16:55 – Huff hit his fifth three of the game to give UTC a 20-point lead early in the second half, 52-32.
2H 13:40 – AAMU put together a 10-2 run over the next three-plus minutes to trim its deficit to 12, 54-42.
2H 10:47 – Bonham hit his third three of the game to halt the continued AAMU run and keep UTC ahead by double digits, 59-48.
2H 7:29 – In the heavy three-point themed game, Huff hit his sixth to keep the Mocs up 11, 69-58.
2H 1:45 – UTC held the AAMU offense scoreless for over five minutes as Sean Cusano's three gave the Mocs an 82-58 sizable edge ahead of the final horn.

G Honor Huff on responding from adversity and coming off the reserve role on Thursday.
"I wasn't going hard enough in practices and games, and I understood that, I didn't take any offense to that. I just practiced hard and went out and played hard. The coaching staff thought that was the best thing for the team, and I'm a team player and I want what's best for the team. It was really good to refocus and reshape my focus on how to get back to me. I think my leadership stepped up over this and I'm confident to keep this going."
