Williams Earns All-America Recognition

Reid Williams

Center Reid Williams earned the Chattanooga Mocs first All-America listing of 2024.

CHATTANOOGA---Chattanooga Mocs junior center Reid Williams is the squad's first All-America selection of 2024. A team captain, Williams was placed on the third team of the prestigious Stats Perform All-America listing.

Williams, regarded as one of the nation's top centers, spent the majority of the season as the top-rated performer at the position per Pro Football Focus College division. He's anchored the o-line since taking over as a starter in 2022 and has started 25 straight games in blue & gold, 33 overall for his career.

It's Williams' third such honor. He was a third team pick in 2023 by FCS Football Central as well as honorable mention AP this morning for 2024.

"He's a good football player and deserves it," Coach Rusty Wright said. "He's been a big part of that room and is recognized as one of the best in the nation."

NOTES
  • This is the fifth straight season the Mocs have at least one All-America pick. That's the fifth -longest DI stretch behind 10 from 1982-91 and eight (1996-03 & 2009-16). There was a 36-year stretch from 1945-80 largely consisted of "Little" All-Americans which consisted of every level below DI at the time.
  • It's five straight campaigns on either the AFCA (American Football Coaches Assoc.) or Stats Perform team, the two longest running & recognized squads. That ties for the most in program lore with 2012-16.
  • Williams is the 10th Moc under Coach Rusty Wright to merit multiple All-America recognition in a season.
  • Fourth consecutive year with an O-lineman honored: 2021-Cole Strange (1st), 2022-McClendon Curtis (1st) & Williams.
  • 14th Mocs offensive lineman to merit All-America mention.
