MATCH NOTES
Â
CHATTANOOGA---The final home weekend is here for the Chattanooga Mocs wrestling team. Sitting at 9-3 overall and 3-1 in the Southern Conference, the Mocs host Presbyterian Friday night before Appalachian State Sunday afternoon.
Â
Friday is Senior Night honoring five Mocs graduating this spring. They include
Logan Andrew,
Logan Ashton,
Lincoln Heck,
Brayden Palmer and
Matthew Williams. For Coach
Kyle Ruschell, this is always a bittersweet event saying goodbye to a group of seniors, however, this one hits a little closer.
Â
"
Logan Andrew was in my first recruiting class here," Ruschell began. "So, bittersweet is a good word for these type of matches. It's great to see them grow and move on, but at the same time it's very sad to see them move on, you know. But we're excited to see where life takes them and get to follow along like with the rest of our Mocs family."
Â
That pivots into Sunday and the Alumni Match or Homecoming of sorts. It's always a festive fixture on the schedule.
Â
"The family reunion, right," Ruschell added. "It's great to see all the faces from different generations of Mocs come back and support the program. They get loud and the atmosphere is great. It's just a matter of putting out the right product at the right time, and that's got to be this weekend with App State coming into town.
Â
"We better be ready to wrestle."
Â
The matches are in Maclellan Gym at 7 p.m., on Friday and 2 p.m., Sunday. Tickets are available on GoMocs.com.
