CHATTANOOGA --- For the first time this season, the Chattanooga beach volleyball duo of Gylian Finch and McKenna Faychak received the honor of being named Ohio Valley Conference Pair of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Finch and Faychak went a perfect 4-0 for the Mocs in the team's No. 2 position, helping to guide UTC to its first-ever Ohio Valley Conference regular season title in program history. The pair served as the clinching point in two of UTC's wins this past weekend, first against Tennessee Tech and again against Morehead State to ultimately win the Mocs a share of the OVC crown.
The award marks Finch's second of her career, with her last OVC Pair of the Week nod coming on March 8, 2022 playing alongside Paige Gallentine. Faychak, on the other hand, is receiving the honor for the first time of her young career with the Mocs.
This now marks the third time this season that a Chattanooga pair has taken home the weekly award, with the other two occasions belonging to the pairing of Neva Clark/Corina Vale.
Finch, Faychak and the rest of the Chattanooga beach volleyball crew will be looking to carry their momentum into the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, which is set to get underway Thursday, April 25 in Morehead, Kentucky. The Mocs are slated to play the winner of Lindenwood vs. Eastern Illinois at 4 p.m. ET.
