ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
SAN DIEGO---The Chattanooga Mocs tee off this week at the NCAA Rancho Santa Fe Regionals. The Mocs are one of 14 teams and five individuals taking on the Farms Golf Club.
It's the 14th regionals appearance, 10th as a team following up last year's squad. That starting five is back looking to be the first Mocs squad to make back-to-back finals appearances.
Chattanooga is the seven seed. The goal is finishing in the top 5 to advance to the championship week just down the road at the Omni La Costa Spa & Resort in Carlsbad, Calif. What separates this group?
"The experience," Coach
Blaine Woodruff began. "I'm not sure how many teams in this field have five guys that have been a part of a regional. It's never easy just to get to this point, but these guys know what this week is like and how to excel in the moments that are going to arise. There are a lot of positive memories to draw on but most importantly, our guys know we don't have to be perfect this week.
"We do have to continue to focus on being disciplined and control what we can control. You do that, compete and see where it stacks up on Wednesday."
Six Mocs took the cross-country flight.
Garrett Engle,
John Houk,
Samuel Espinosa,
Paul Conroy and
Braedon Wear are joined by alternate
