CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga's Peja Goold and Kaili Phillips swept the Southern Conference monthly awards, the league office announced Friday.
 
Goold was named the SoCon Pitcher of the Month for all games played in April. She made five starts in 11 games and went two complete. She went 4-2 for the month with two saves and struck out 40 in 42.1 innings of work. The Stockton, Calif., native struck out a season-high nine in eight innings against Mercer and had eight K's against Furman in her second complete game of the month. She made appearances in all three games against UNC Greensboro and Mercer.
 
Phillips, the SoCon Player of the Month, hit .351 (13-37) for April with six home runs, five doubles and drove in 12 runs with a .973 slugging percentage. The Harrison, Tenn., native drew four walks, was plunked five times and scored 10 runs. She drove in the first runs on a two-run blast in the Mocs win at Tennessee State. Against Furman in the second game on April 27, she had a pair of solo shots in a 3-0 victory and in the final game against the Paladins, she had a three-run bomb to right center for the final three runs in a run-rule 10-0 victory.
 
Phillips was named the SoCon Player of the Week on April 29 and the league Student-Athlete of the Week on May 1.
 
Chattanooga hits the road this weekend to close out the regular season with three games at Western Carolina. Saturday's doubleheader gets its start at 3:00 p.m. and Sunday's finale is set for 1:00 p.m.
 
The Southern Conference Championships begin Wednesday, May 8 in Greensboro, N.C., at UNCG Softball Stadium.
