CHATTANOOGA --- Chattanooga indoor volleyball continues to bolster its front row attackers as summer rears its head, with head coach Julie Torbett Thomas announcing the addition of freshman Destiny Wiggins to the team's 2024 roster.
A multi-time Skyline All-Conference honoree during her time playing at Maranatha Christian Academy in Minnesota, Wiggins will slot into an opposite side hitting role for the Mocs, marking the eighth front row addition to the squad this offseason for Coach Torbett Thomas.
"Destiny Wiggins will be a solid player for us on the right side," Torbett Thomas said. "She is a strong blocker and a tough competitor. Destiny comes from a very athletic family—her mom ran track and her dad played basketball in college while her younger brother is a basketball standout.
Destiny is also an excellent student. What attracted us the most was her strong family values, her commitment to excellence both on and off the court, and her endearing personality."
A standout for Maranatha Christian Academy, Wiggins claimed the title of being named her team's Most Valuable Player in each of her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. This is compounded with earning back-to-back Skyline All-Conference honors as an upperclassman, alongside being named to the High Honor Roll All-State Team her senior year.
Off the court, Wiggins is a star in the classroom having been a High A Honor Roll student for the Mustangs. Additionally, Wiggins received the President Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence during her time in Minnesota.
Born February 10, 2006, and a native to Plymouth, Minnesota, Destiny is the daughter of Timmiria and DeMon Wiggins. She also has two younger siblings: Christian (brother) and Eden (sister). Both of Destiny's parents competed at the collegiate level, with Timmiria having run track while DeMon played basketball. Wiggins intends on majoring in business management while she attends UTC.
