GREENVILLE, S.C. (January 18, 2025) – For the second straight game, the Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team eliminated an early deficit and used a strong second-half effort to come away victorious, earning a 75-71 win at Furman inside the Bon Secours Arena in Greenville, S.C., in Southern Conference action.
Chattanooga (12-7, 4-2 SoCon) fell behind by a sizable 16-point margin, 22-6 (1st, 9:14), to Furman (15-4, 3-3 SoCon) before eventually chipping away at the deficit to enter the halftime break down just seven, 34-27. The Mocs used a 48-37 advantage in the second half which included a 16-of-18 (88.9%) performance from the free throw line to help seal the comeback victory.

Honor Huff and
Trey Bonham all led the Mocs with 16 points each while Champion nearly recorded his first double-double in a Mocs uniform with nine rebounds. After a 2-of-17 (11.8%) start from the floor, UTC finished the game 23-of-52 (44.2%) in total while seeing its 86-game streak of five or more threes snapped after finishing just 4-of-13 (30.8%) from deep.

∙ Back-to-back steals from
Trey Bonham led to a pair of fastbreak buckets as a 13-2 Chattanooga run brought the deficit to two, 43-41 (13:49).
∙ A second-chance Champion layup once again put the Mocs within just two, 49-47 (10:38).

Collin Mulholland converted an and-one off an
Honor Huff assist to give Chattanooga its first lead of the game, 60-58 (4:35).
∙ Bonham connected on a huge second-chance three in the corner off a
Collin Mulholland offensive rebound to give the Mocs a 65-60 (3:33) lead.
∙ Bonham hit a pair of free throws to make it a two-possession game with only a few seconds remaining to ice the win.

∙ The win over Furman was just the second for the Mocs in Greenville in the last nine tries… UTC had lost seven of its last eight at Furman before today's win.
∙ Chattanooga saw a strong effort at the free-throw line after finishing 25-of-28 (89.3%)… second most made FT of the season (28 vs. Tennessee State, 11/25/24)… best FT% (min. 25 FTM) in a game against a SoCon opponent in program history.
