THOUSAND OAKS---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team began play at the Southwestern Invitational Monday at Sherwood Country. The quintet shot 309 led by
Camden Braidech.
Braidech shot 1-over 72. That was ahead of
Carson Johnson with 76 followed by
Braedon Wear at 78.
Aidan Cohl and
Ethan Whitaker matched for the final counting card of 83.
San Diego State has the lead shooting 8-under 276. It holds a 6-stroke lead over No. 15 Vanderbilt in second. UNLV's Wyatt Plattner and Ivan Barahona of San Jose State are the individual leaders at 66.

The Rundown
- Braidech's first round average is 71.80 through five tournaments. This is just his second time with the low score on day one.
- Braidech, Wear and Whitaker are the only Mocs to start the first five tournaments. This is the fourth different starting lineup.
- The counting card accounted for seven birdies. Braidech turned in four. It's his fourth card with four ore in 13 this campaign.
- No eagles today for the squad breaking a streak of three consecutive rounds and five in the last six.
- Cohl earned his first start in the Mocs tournament Q school after transferring mid-year from Ole Miss where he spent three semesters.
