SETTING THE SCENE
- The Chattanooga Mocs captured a hard-fought 21-14 win at VMI in Foster Stadium…the Mocs are now 2-4, 1-1 in the league…the Keydets are 1-4, 0-1 in conference play.
- 350th SoCon matchup in 49 seasons in the league…176-172-2 (.506) over that span.
- 8-1 in last nine SoCon road games…16-7 under Coach Rusty Wright on the SoCon highways and byways.
- 31st matchup with the Keydets…9-2 since their return to the SoCon in 2014.
- All but two of the all-time matchups have come in SoCon play…the outliers were 1971 a 31-8 win in Lexington and 1972, a 17-0 loss on Chamberlain Field.
- The win is the 30th in SoCon contests under Wright…he is the fastest Mocs head football coach to 30 wins in league play (46 games)…that's one faster than fellow alum Russ Huesman (30-17).
- Game captain: QB Camden Orth…5th straight game serving as a captain, first time alone…VMI won toss & deferred... 0-3 when winning toss, 2-1 when losing it.

- 39-31 in his sixth season…30-16 in SoCon play.
- 4-2 against VMI…2-2 in Lexington.

TEAM NOTES
- 99-yard scoring drive in second quarter to go up 14-3…all 99 yards came on the ground (8 carries) with the big jolt coming on a Justus Durant 52-yard dash…was followed by runs of 12 (Durant) and 11 yards (Ryan Ingram)…Ingram completed it by bulling his way eight yards through all three levels of Keydets.
- First 99-yard march since the Sept. 22, 2018 win over Samford…that went 13 plays in 5:50.
- Opening VMI drive of second half, it drove down to the UTC 3 with first and goal…after a 2-yard gain to inside the one, the defense held their hosts to no gain for three straight plays in a goal line stand.
- Defense held the Keydets to 2-of-12 on third downs (16.7%)…VMI came into the game third in the league converting 40.4 percent on the season.
- 223 rushing yards on 38 carries…third-highest total of the season…averaged 5.9 yards per rush…1,081 yards over last four games (270.3 yards per contest).
- Scored on all three forays into the red zone…14 of 15 (93.3%) with 10 TDs.
- Held VMI to 263 yards total offense and 4.2 yards per play…limited Keydets to 45 yards rushing which is the second lowest total of the season (29 vs Stetson),,,managed just 1.7 yards per carry.
- Another 1-score margin in Lexington…that's the 10th time in 16 trips the Mocs and Keydets played within a score of each other…4-6 in those contests.
- 2.0 sacks…both by Jamarr Jones…42nd time in the Rusty Wright Era with multiple sacks.
- Zero sacks allowed along with just tackles for loss by the Keydets…47th time under Wright that the Mocs allowed one or fewer sacks.
- Four pass breakups…third time in last four games with four or more…KJ Sejour led with two…now has a team-high seven.
 
PLAYER NOTES
- RB Justus Durant had a UTC career-high 144 yards on 20 carries…topped the 2,000-yard mark during 52 yard run towards the end of the first half converting a key third down in the TD drive.
- Durant now has 2,089 career rushing yards including his first two years at Shorter…he's eight yards short of 2,500 career all-purpose.
- QB Camden Orth threw for 123 yards on 14 of 23 passing with one interception and a touchdown...completed his first eight passes…TD pass was a 6-yard strike to Josh Williams to open the scoring.
- Orth had 126 yards of total offense…topped 4,000 career yards during the win…now stands with 4,110.
- Orth is now one completion shy of 300 in his career.
- RB Ryan Ingram ran for 60 yards on 13 carries…scored twice from eight and 10 yards out…he now has 2,297 yards with 22 touchdowns between his time at Wofford and Chattanooga.
- WR Markell Quick caught five passes for 31 yards…team high for receptions…fourth catch was the 50th of his collegiate career.
- WR Jamarii Robinson led the squad with 50 receiving yards on four catches…nine catches for 139 yards over the last two weeks.
- DT Jamarr Jones had a career day…all three tackles were for loss sharing one…that included two sacks…both are career highs…also forced a fumble.
- DB Kamari Todd had a season-high 14 tackles in his second career start at the slot safety…added 1.5 for loss.
- LB Zion Rutledge had seven stops...50 tackles through six games...most since 59 by Ty Boeck in 2021.
- DB Kam Baah-Slay had nine tackles…26 over last two weeks.
