SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Southern Conference (SoCon) released its All-Conference Teams and Yearly Award Winners for Volleyball on Tuesday afternoon with two Mocs earning recognition. Senior Outside Hitter
Sydney Jackwin was named to the First Team while Freshman Middle Blocker
Jordin Glass made the cut for the All-Freshman Team.Â
Jackwin has been a consistent offensive threat to Chattanooga's opposition all season long. With a team-high 368 kills (3.44 per set), Jackwin has been instrumental in the Mocs attack. The St. Petersburg, Florida native also leads the team in points with 420 (3.93 per set) on the year. Lastly, she has been a lethal server, with 38 service aces, which leads the team. In comparison to the rest of the SoCon, Jackwin ranks inside the top four in all of these statistical categories.Â
On the defensive side of the net, Jackwin also impacts games. She has brought in 299 digs (2.79 per set), which trails only
Caiti Barthel, Chattanooga's Libero, in most digs on the team. In her second year in Chattanooga, after spending her first two seasons at Louisiana Tech, Jackwin has also tallied 28 total blocks.Â
Jackwin has 15 double-doubles to her name on the season, including a stretch of nine matches from 9/27-10/23 where she posted a double-double in each match.Â
Moving on to Glass, she has been an impactful first-year player for Head Coach
Julie Torbett Thomas. She totaled 122 kills (1.47 per set), displaying an important presence in the Mocs offensive attack. Additionally, Glass posted 164.5 points (1.98 per set) for the season. She ranks fifth on the team in all of these numbers. In five matches this year Glass came through with double-digit kills, including a career-high 13 kills in wins over Idaho and Wofford.Â
Coming to Chattanooga by way of Denver, North Carolina, Glass really made her mark on this year's team in defense. She is a tied with
Kynli Kirkendoll in blocks per set at 0.96 while ranking second on the team in total blocks with 80. In a three-set win at Tennessee State on 9/20, Glass delivered a career-high seven blocks.Â
Jackwin and Glass return to the court with the rest of the Mocs on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the First Round of the SoCon Tournament against UNC Greensboro at the Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Caroina.Â
